Summer

Heat and ease. June through August, when time moves differently and nobody's in a hurry. Ceiling fans, screen doors, ice in every glass. Evenings stretch until nine. The grass grows faster than you can cut it. You shower twice a day and don't apologize for it. Southern summer—it's not for everyone, but if you're built for it, nowhere else will do.
